This PEth test checks your blood for consumption of alcohol.
Drug testing detects the presence of specific drugs and/or drug metabolites in a blood sample to determine drug exposure. A phosphatidylethanol test, also known as a PEth alcohol test, measures the level of an alcohol biomarker (PEth) found in the blood after alcohol consumption. This PEth blood test specifically looks for ethyl alcohol (ethanol). A positive PEth result is a more specific indicator of alcohol consumption than other alcohol biomarkers (eg, ethyl glucuronide [EtG]/ethyl sulfate [EtS]) that may be formed from incidental exposure to sources containing alcohol (eg, hand sanitizers).
